New book: Transformation Dynamics in FinTech
Ten years ago the fintech industry was nascent, and the word ‘fintech’ hadn’t yet entered popular parlance. Today the picture is completely different. Not only are fintech companies everywhere, but the idea that finance and technology are a perfect match is taken for granted.
Where do we go to from here? And—more importantly—do we really understand what really happened over the last decade or so?
A new book, Transformation Dynamics in FinTech: An Open Innovation Ecosystem Outlook (2021, World Scientific), promises to answer these questions and more. Edited by Dr. Dimitrios Salampasis (Swinburne Business School) and Professor Anne-Laure Mention (RMIT), the collection includes twelve chapters by leading experts in academia and industry.
Topics covered in the book include:
Catalysts for innovation and reimagining fintech transformation
Key research questions in fintech today
Strategic organizational decision-making in fintech
Business trends and value creation
The global wealth management industry
Open banking in Australia
Blockchain business applications
Investment in fintech, AI and blockchain
The book also includes my own work: a chapter called ‘The Human Impact of Financial Innovation: Mobility, Choice and Risk’ in which I discuss a range of issues that increased access to financial products presents for consumers. I especially draw attention to the fact that fintech services are incredibly mobile: people can often access them across national borders, use them everywhere, and are under pressure to stay up-to-date with a fast-changing market.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Salampasis and Professor Mention for bringing this book together, and giving my work a place in it.
You can order the book through World Scientific (its publisher), Amazon, or wherever else you normally get your fintech fill.
